El Paso County COVID-19 Emergency Relief Assistance Fund

Family Independence Initiative (FII), the County of El Paso, and the Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation are partnering to distribute $550,000 in direct financial relief to residents facing financial hardship because of COVID-19.

Eligible families will receive $500. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please note that even if you successfully complete the steps as instructed, we cannot guarantee that you will receive a cash transfer as funds are limited.

To be eligible you must: 

    • Verify residence within the County of El Paso but outside the city limits of El Paso
    • Provide documentation that the household is at or below 80% of the area median family income level for local El Paso County area or demonstrate household is receiving or eligible for Medicaid/SNAP benefits
    • Provide documentation that you have experienced a significant hardship or loss of household income related to the COVID-19 pandemic

Acceptable documents for income verification:

  • Most recent Federal Income Tax form
  • Most recent paycheck stub from your employer
  • Letter on company letterhead with gross monthly or annual income
  • Bank statement showing payroll deposits
  • Unemployment or Social Security benefits statements
  • 1099-R or other pension or retirement fund withdrawal statements
  • Demonstration of SNAP or Medicaid benefits or child eligibility for free/reduced price lunch

Acceptable documents for hardship verification: These vary based on cause of hardship

    • a government or employer stay-at-home order
  • Care of a vulnerable or infected relative
    • letter or documentation from employer
  • Loss of wages due to involuntary business closure

    • Texas Workforce Commission/Unemployment claim
    • notification of job loss or hours reduction from employer
  • Unpaid leave due to school or daycare closure
    • letter or documentation from the school or school official
