Your Privacy Matters: How We Protect Your Personal Information

Updated this week

At UpTogether, your privacy and security are our top priorities. We know that sharing personal information can be sensitive, and we want to assure you that we are committed to protecting your data at every step. Below, we address some important questions we've received about how we handle member information, especially Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

We Do Not Collect Immigration Status

First and foremost, we do not collect or store information about immigration status. That means we don’t have this data to disclose. This is a deliberate decision to further protect our members and focus only on the information that is necessary to deliver support.

How We Protect Your PII

Personally Identifiable Information (PII)—such as your name, address, or date of birth—is safeguarded in our systems through strict data protection practices. We’ve built multiple layers of security to ensure your information stays private, and we regularly review and improve these measures to stay ahead of emerging risks.

What Happens if We Receive a Subpoena?

We understand concerns about legal inquiries. If UpTogether were to receive a subpoena asking for member data, we would take every legal step possible to protect your information. This includes challenging the request and asserting any applicable legal exemptions.

  • If government funds are involved, we may be legally required to comply—but we would redact or anonymize as much personal information as possible.

  • For private funds, we have more flexibility in protecting member data.

Approved Today, Protected Tomorrow

Once you’re approved for a fund, your continued access is not affected by changes in your circumstances—like moving outside an eligible area—after your approval. We base eligibility on your situation at the time of application. You will not be penalized for events beyond your control, unless a change in the law requires us to do so.

Our Ongoing Commitment

We constantly monitor and improve our policies to protect members against potential risks. Whether we strengthen our technology, evaluate legal threats, or improve internal practices, our goal remains the same: to stand with you and safeguard your trust.
