Why am I being charged an Inactivity Fee on my USIO Virtual Wallet?

Updated today

To help ensure that members are aware of how their virtual wallets work, we want to explain USIO’s Inactivity Fee policy and how you can avoid being charged.

What is the Inactivity Fee?

If there is no qualifying activity in your USIO Virtual Wallet for 12 consecutive months, a monthly inactivity fee of $4.95 will be charged. The fee begins on the second day of the 13th month of inactivity and continues monthly until:

  • You use your wallet again, or

  • Your balance is reduced to $0

What Counts as an “Activity”?

To keep your Virtual Wallet active, at least one of the following must occur:

  • A purchase or transaction using your physical or virtual card

  • A fund load (payment) from UpTogether into your Virtual Wallet

What Does Not Count as an Activity?

These actions do not prevent inactivity fees:

  • Transferring money out of your Virtual Wallet to a bank account

  • Logging into your Virtual Wallet account

  • Requesting a new card (virtual or physical)

  • Changing your address or any other profile information

When Does the Fee Start?

The fee is charged automatically starting on the 2nd of the month after 12 full months of inactivity.

Example:

If your last qualifying activity was on May 3, your first inactivity fee will be charged on June 2 of the following year.

Can I Get the Fees Refunded?

Yes! You can request a refund of any inactivity fees that were charged.

To do so, please contact Akimbo, the card processor for your Virtual Wallet. -

(855) 449-2273

Let them know you’d like a refund of your inactivity fees. We recommend reaching out to Akimbo as soon as possible for a smoother process.

Tips to Avoid the Inactivity Fee

  • Use your card at least once a year - buy something small or withdraw funds using your card.

  • Look out for reminder notifications from us (UpTogether) when your wallet is close to becoming inactive.
